Clé de Peau Beauté will donate a portion of the worldwide sales of The serum to champion girls’ STEM education as the key to unlocking a better world

TOKYO, April 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Clé de Peau Beauté, a global luxury skincare and makeup brand, is proud to partner with UNICEF[1] for a third year supporting the Global Agenda for Gender Equality which supports the right of every child to an equal future. Clé de Peau Beauté believes that unlocking the unlimited potential of girls through education and knowledge will lead to a brighter future for all. As the partnership enters its third year, UNICEF and Clé de Peau Beauté aim to continue to break down the barriers that young girls may face by improving their access to education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and relevant skills – to empower them with the tools to positively impact their communities and the world. Clé de Peau Beauté will donate a portion of worldwide sales of The Serum to support UNICEF’s efforts in Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstanand Niger among other regions to educate and empower girls. The initiative will run in stores from May to June and online from May to June. December 2022[2].

As the world begins to emerge from the COVID pandemic and looks forward to a brighter future, we acknowledge the legacy of the past two years and its impact on how the future will be shaped. Funds raised for UNICEF through sales of The Serum last year have advanced initiatives to support girls around the world, enabling them to overcome barriers to education and skills development. Achievements include:

Bangladesh: Strengthening of the adolescent education program to make it gender sensitive

  • Clé de Peau Beauté supports UNICEF programs by Bangladesh promote gender equity in the education system, reducing gender-related barriers to education and reducing gender-based violence.

  • In partnership with the government of BangladeshUNICEF follows a systematic approach to strengthen gender equity in the education system by providing technical support to develop a competency-based curriculum, which has been endorsed by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

  • UNICEF has set up an alternative learning program in Bangladesh, for the most vulnerable out-of-school adolescent girls, linking them to apprenticeships and vocational training with theoretical and fundamental skills. 1,100 girls are registered.

Kyrgyzstan: Developing 21st century skills for girls

  • Clé de Peau Beauté supports UNICEF’s STEM4Girls programs by Kyrgyzstan empower girls to pursue vocational training and careers in STEM and beyond to address existing gender disparities – including high unemployment rates among women and the prevalence of child marriage.

  • 621 girls were trained to be role models and peer educators for young girls in their communities. These peer educators succeeded in reaching over 16k peers – resulting in 81% of participants saying the sessions helped them identify their career choice in STEM.

  • 155 girls entered university to study STEM, 39% with a scholarship.

Niger: Promoting the empowerment of girls

  • Clé de Peau Beauté supports UNICEF programs by Nigerwhere more than 1.3 million girls are out of school, to promote new opportunities for adolescent girls by helping them develop relevant skills and abilities.

  • The partnership supported 900 secondary school girls in mentoring groups to strengthen their basic math and French skills. About a third of these girls had dropped out of school but were successfully brought back to school through the mentoring program.

  • 24,956 girls and women benefited from a campaign and a workshop on overcoming gender stereotypes and promoting their well-being.
