Democratic strategist James Carville: ‘Democrats complain too much…stop being a whiny party’

Democratic strategist James Carville said Democrats are “crying too much” and urged the party to rejoice in achievements instead of focusing on the negative.

The Ragin’ Cajun appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday, where Chuck Todd said President Biden was going through a tough time and wondered how Carville would “sell the good things” that Biden has managed to accomplish in a nation that is not satisfied with its performance.

“You’re gloating and you’re promoting. You’re talking about the fact that we claim we care about child poverty…it’s the lowest child poverty rate we’ve had in history. We claim we care hourly workers. Hourly workers today carry more weight than any time we’ve had in my 77 years on this planet, okay? You say we want jobs – 6 .4 million jobs. More jobs than any president has ever created in the first term,” Carville said. “What you do, Chuck, is you run on this you have. You don’t run on what you didn’t get.”

Carville then said “what you got is pretty good” and suggested Democrats focus on hits.

“You have to go out and you have to gloat and you have to promote … and if inflation is still at 7% this year in November, we will lose anyway, but a lot of people don’t think that will be the case,” said said Carville.

BIDEN TORN ON BOTH SIDES AFTER ‘HELL WEEK’ AS MEDIA SAYS ‘IT’S VERY DARK FOR HIM RIGHT NOW’

Todd then reminded Carville that “no one is happy” in the Biden coalition.

Just last week, Biden gave a battered speech about his efforts to pass Democratic bills comparing opponents to segregationists, the Supreme Court blocked his mandate to force big employers to vaccinate or test their workers, and the sense Democrat Joe Manchin, W. Va. , and Kyrsten Sinema, Arizona, announced they would not vote to remove or weaken the filibuster despite being urged by the president to do so. In addition to bubbly legislation and court defeat, polls show public approval of Biden’s professional performance continues to rise. crater as COVID rises despite its promise to “shut down” the coronavirus.

“Progressives aren’t happy right now with how Build Back Better has gone, African American activists aren’t happy with how suffrage has gone, and if you look at the polls , honestly, the biggest craters are the independents,” Todd says. “You are the president, what do you fix first?”

Carville said many Democrats simply haven’t been told about Biden’s accomplishments and that the party needs to stop talking about what he hasn’t accomplished.

“Democrats complain too much, Chuck. Stop being a whiny party and get out there and fight,” Carville said. “Soldier on… This is tough, tough business.”

Last year, Carville declared a “dumb wake-up call” and the progressive agenda saw Republican Glenn Youngkin defeat Democratic nominee Terry McAuliffe in the race for governor of Virginia. Youngkin took office on Saturday.
