KABUL: According to UNICEF, 69 Afghan children were evacuated abroad without their parents.

UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan HervéLudovic De Lys said the exact number of these children is difficult to ascertain.

He said efforts were underway to integrate the evacuated children with their parents.

He said that they have received information about these evacuees from different countries and that they are making efforts to ensure the safety of these children.

US officials said 34 young people arrived in the United States alone.

The US Department of Humanitarian and Health Services said the children would be referred to the Department of Refugees to provide them with the necessary facilities.

In mid-August, the United States began evacuating its citizens and local Afghan allies, who have worked with foreign embassies and missions for the past 20 years.
