UNICEF USA – CultureMap Austin

UNICEF USA works to put children first everywhere through fundraising, advocacy and education for UNICEF’s global mandate here in the United States. They work toward the day when no child dies of preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood. UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories around the world and has helped save more lives than any other humanitarian organization. With every dollar donated, 88.4% goes directly to helping children around the world.

Although its offices are located in Dallas and Houston, UNICEF’s engagement and activations span the entire state of Texas. Students can get involved in the work of UNICEF by joining their local UNICEF Club, which currently operates in 67 schools in Texas. Participants support campaigns and organize fun events to raise funds for UNICEF.

UNICEF USA implemented the original Kids-Helping-Kids program with the iconic Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. Kids can support their peers all year round with UNICEF Kid Power, which empowers kids to get active and save lives by tracking physical activity through the Kid Power band and app. Children run, jump and dance to unlock partner funds that UNICEF uses to provide lifesaving nutrition to severely malnourished children. The more children move, the more lives they save. To date, over 10 million vital food packs have been unlocked, saving over 70,000 lives.

UNICEF Next Generation is a group of young leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators who dedicate their resources, determination and enthusiasm to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work. Members study issues that affect children around the world and choose UNICEF projects to support through education, advocacy, skills sharing/remote volunteering and fundraising. Through their activities, members mobilize their networks and inspire their generations to act in favor of the world’s most vulnerable children.
